Architecture Department of the University of Zanjan was founded in 1993 as a part of the Faculty of Engineering, offering technical certificate in architecture within a 2-years educational course. In 2002, the first group of architecture students were accepted for the bachelors degree. The Department continued its development by establishing the MSc. degree in 2010. Now, a total number of 237 undergraduate and graduate architecture students are studying at the Faculty.

Currently, a new Building is under construction for independent Architecture and Fine Arts faculty, which must be completed in 2016. The new school will be place for the existing departments (architecture and Fine Arts) as well as the prospected departments such as Urban Planning and Industrial Design.

The Architecture and Environment Research Center (AERC) was founded in 2014 to integrate the research efforts of the academic staff, which includes various grounds, such as:

• Architectural Technology
• Green Architecture
• Rural Development
