Omid Rahmani is a professor in the mechanical engineering faculty. He is the vice president for research and technology at University of Zanjan. Prior to joining ZNU, he served as visiting researcher at Aalborg University, Denmark. He is also the Director of Smart Structures and New Advanced Materials Laboratory.
Prof. Rahmani has 15 years of experience in a broad range of composites for industrial applications. Rahmani's research activities are focused on Composite and Sandwich Structures, Nano Mechanics, Functionally Graded Materials, Smart and Adaptive Structures, Vibration Behavior of Advanced Materials, Experimental Mechanics and Low Velocity Impact Response of Light Weight Structures.
He has been author and coauthor of about 110 papers on the above topics, most of which have been published in first rate international journals. Some of these works have been recognized as Highly Cited papers (Top 1%) by Thompson Reuters in Engineering and Materials fields. Rahmani, in a close collaboration with Prof. Ole Thomsen, has introduced the High order Sandwich Shell Theory, HSAST, as a natural extension of the Higher order Sandwich panels Theory (HSAPT). He serves on the scientific committee of International Conference on Acoustics and Vibration (ISAV) from 2012.
Prof. Rahmani was awarded the Distinctive Researcher of University (2016 & 2020) and was also recognized as the Distinctive Professor of University in 2019. Also he serves as a referee for wide range of international journals, reviewing more than 100 manuscripts.
